The Chakravartin Hall

The Chakravartin Hall for the offering of ancestors, deceased, karmic enemies and creditors, aborted fetuses and spirits of deceased pets.

This Hall is the first of its kind in Singapore. Besides allowing the deceased spirits to accumulate immeasurable merits, the living benefactors will also receive infinite good karma.

This gesture of installing the tablets also signifies “Offering”, “Repentance”, “Filial Piety”. With this auspicious causation to be part of the Shi Cheng True Buddha Association’s building endeavor, one is assured of good karmic returns in the future.

This Hall resides four great Buddha Mothers, namely:

  1. Usnishavijaya
  2. Cunde Bodhisattva
  3. Ushnisha Sitatapatra
  4. Marici

With the blessings from the Buddha Mothers, benefactors will be blessed with longevity and good fortune and eradicate negative karma. Installing tablets will also enable one’s karmic creditors gain affinity to Buddhism and be delivered. One will receive good luck, good health for oneself and family.

True Buddha Shi Cheng Association will conduct regular sutra and mantra recitations.

Terms & Conditions

Payment Matters

  1. The payment for the use of tablet space in the Ancestral Hall shall be in such amount and in such manner as may be determined, from time to time, by True Buddha Shi Cheng Temple.
  2. No real property right or interest is created for a purchaser or his/her successor in interest by the purchase of a tablet space in the Ancestral Hall. Payment only relates to the use of space. The ancestral tablet and any ornaments within the Ancestral Hall remain as the sole property of the temple.
  3. The purchase price includes:
    1. Use of one single space in the Ancestral Hall.
    2. Maintenance of the tablet space.
  4. The payment for the use of space must be paid in full before the agreement is executed or the space used. True Buddha Shi Cheng Temple reserves all rights to terminate the reservation of the tablet space before full payment is made.
  5. Any payment made to the temple to reserve or purchase the tablet space is non-refundable.
  6. If you are paying by GIRO, your GIRO application form must be submitted to the temple within 1 week of the application submission. If the temple does not receive the GIRO application form within this period, it will be presumed you explicitly wish to cancel your application.
  7. If you miss a total of 3 months' worth of instalment payments, it will be presumed you explicitly wish to forgo the use of space in the Ancestral Hall.
  8. The right to use a specific ancestral tablet space cannot be sold, rented, given or otherwise transferred to another person or legal entity

Limitation of Liability

  1. The payment by a purchaser for use of a tablet space must be made without any reservations, restrictions or conditions and the funds paid may be used by True Buddha Shi Cheng Temple for any lawful purpose.
  2. Although it is the intent of True Buddha Shi Cheng Temple to exercise reasonable care in the maintenance of the Ancestral Hall, neither True Buddha Shi Cheng Temple nor any person acting for True Buddha Shi Cheng Temple assumes any responsibility for or shall have any legal liability for the preservation, loss of or damage to the tablet space from Acts of God, vandalism, theft or any other casualty or event.

Modification of Rules and Regulations

  1. Any modification, amendment or changes in these rules and regulations as hereinafter provided shall be binding on the purchaser, and any successor to the interest of a purchaser as of the date of such modification, amendment or change.

Requests

  1. Any request relating to the tablet space shall be made in writing to True Buddha Shi Cheng Temple.
  2. Any individual chanting or religious procession within the temple premise without the prior consent of the Management Committee is strictly prohibited.

Use of Space

  1. By putting up the application, the purchaser agrees to the use of space in the Ancestral Hall for the single purpose to display a tablet.
  2. No object of any kind shall be placed in the tablet space other than the tablet and accompanying ornaments (if any) as deem fit by True Buddha Shi Cheng Temple.
  3. The material, design, construction, type, size, shape and letterings of the tablet and tablet space are subject to the control of True Buddha Shi Cheng Temple. Inscriptions or letterings on the tablet will be limited to the name(s) of the deceased or name of the living. Name(s) to be inscribed on the tablet cannot be changed once the application is submitted to the temple. Special requests for the use of any seals, professional designations or inscriptions are also not accepted.

Relocation of Temple Premise

  1. If, in the judgment of True Buddha Shi Cheng Temple, it shall be deemed necessary at any time to change the location of the temple and ancestral hall, the temple will remove or change the tablets and placed them in another suitable location as the temple deem fit. In the event if the use of the tablet space is to be discontinued for any reasons, True Buddha Shi Cheng Temple reserves the right to remove the tablets from the Ancestral Hall without making any replacement for the discontinued tablet space. In both circumstances, a reasonable attempt will be made to communicate to the purchaser and any successor to the interest of a purchaser of any relocation or discontinued use.

Termination of Use

  1. In the event if the purchaser and any successor to the interest of a purchaser decide to end the use of the tablet space, he or she shall be responsible to inform True Buddha Shi Cheng Temple on the termination of use. Upon the confirmation to end the use of tablet space, all rights to the tablet space purchased shall be forfeited, terminated and the space shall revert to True Buddha Shi Cheng Temple.
  2. Upon the death of the person whose name is inscribed on the tablet for the “living” referred to as the “designee”, the purchaser and/or the designee’s next-of-kin shall be liable to inform True Buddha Shi Cheng Temple within 3 months after the death of the designee to remove the designee’s name from the tablet. The rights to the use of tablet space within the Ancestral Hall (for the living) will be terminated 3 months after the death of the “designee” and the space shall revert to True Buddha Shi Cheng Temple.

  1. There is no restriction on the persons applying for the ancestral tablets.

  1. There is currently no limit on the number of ancestral tablets that a person can purchase. However, please note that once the ancestral tablet space is bought, it cannot be sold privately to another person.

  1. Please approach our counter staff / volunteers to look at the artists’ impression and the location map of the ancestral tablet positions based on the price category. A tablet number based on the preferred location of the tablet position will be issued to you upon registration. Please note that once the tablet space is allocated to you, it cannot be changed subsequently. The exact location of the tablet space will be subject to change upon the completion of the new temple and ancestral hall.

  1. Please put up an application using the prescribed form. You will be required to complete the application form and submit the hard copy form to the counter with the requisite payment. If you are paying by instalments through GIRO, you will be required to submit the completed GIRO form as well

  1. The ancestral tablets will be put up within 3 months from the completion of the new temple and within 1 month upon full payment of the ancestral tablets whichever is earlier.

  1. Minimum deposit of 20% of the tablets should be made in full upon selection of the tablet space. We accept cash, cheque, NETs and money order (in Singapore dollar). For persons who are not residing in Singapore, full payment is required.

  1. Maximum of 80% of the cost of the tablet can be paid via GIRO over a period of not more than 24 months from the date of deposit paid. The GIRO form will have to be submitted upon registration. Monthly payment by cash or cheque will be decided on a case-by-case basis. Persons who are not residing in Singapore will not be eligible for payment by instalment.

  1. There will be no maintenance cost or levy of inscription fees apart from the amount required to be paid for the tablet space. You may choose to participate in special offering of food and fruits and chanting by sanghas for a fee during certain festive ceremonies.

  1. No. Any payment made to the temple for the ancestral tablet cannot be refunded.

  1. Yes you may. However, please note that the change is subject to the availability of the tablet space for the category you wish to upgrade and new arrangement on the payment matters. Please note that downgrading of the category of the tablet will not be allowed.

  1. Maximum of 2 names can be placed on the tablet for the deceased.
  2. Only 1 name can be placed on the tablet for the living/earth deity.

  1. No, registration for the whole family under a single tablet is not allowed. Likewise, we do not accept registration which represents all spirits and deities etc.

  1. No, the design and material of the tablet as well as the font type and size of the names to be inscribed onto the tablet will be decided solely by the Management Committee.

  1. Names on the tablet cannot be changed once the application is submitted to the temple for processing. However, you are allowed to add in another name on the tablet for the deceased at any one time, provided that the tablet originally contains only a name.

  1. Once the person has passed away, his or her name cannot be reflected on the tablet for the living. The next of kin should inform the temple as soon as possible to remove the name. Under such circumstance, the Management Committee will not be replacing the tablet for the living in exchange for the tablet for the deceased. The original tablet space will be returned to the temple and the Management Committee reserves all rights to find a new owner.

  1. Yes you can. The names of the living will be covered with a piece of red paper and will only be revealed upon confirmation of his or her passing.

  1. The cost of the ancestral tablet includes only the rights to use the assigned ancestral tablet space within the ancestral hall to place the ancestral tablet. The ancestral tablet remains as the sole property of the temple.

  1. You will own the right to use the designated space for the tablet of deceased for as long as True Buddha Shi Cheng Temple remains. However, if there is a relocation of the temple, please note that the ancestral tablet space will be subject to change in design and size. Under such circumstances, the Management Committee reserves the right to allocate the new location of the tablet at the new temple premise. As for the tablet space meant for the living, you will own the right to use the designated space for as long as the person (whose name is on the tablet) lives.
